School Lifeguard - Brettenham, Suffolk
Set in 90 acres of Suffolk parkland, our client is one of the country's oldest and most beautiful preparatory schools. Since 1862, it has provided children with a rigorous curriculum and unparalleled co-curricular opportunities, all underpinned by an outstanding system of pastoral care. A co-educational school for children aged 2 to 13, OBH serves a boarding and day community that go on attend some of the most aspirational senior schools in the UK, many having achieved scholarships. Regular destinations include Eton, Radley, Benenden, Oundle, Uppingham and Rugby, as well schools in East Anglia.
They are looking to appoint a qualified Lifeguard. The successful candidate will be expected to help deliver the School's aims and objectives by ensuring the provision of an efficient and effective site and facilities service, and a safe, pleasant environment for staff students and visitors, which supports teaching and learning:
·To interact with the children or public responsibly and welcome all users of the facilities promoting a positive image of the facility and School by the provision of high quality customer service.
·To comply with the pool operating procedures at all times.
·To maintain a vigilant watch of the swimming pool areas in accordance with the operating procedures and take necessary action to ensure the safety of all pool users and staff.
·To check the safety of equipment in areas of responsibility and report any damage or malfunction of equipment, plant or building fabric to the Estates Manager immediately
·To assist in the preparation and operation of events and activities, including the assembly and dismantling of equipment and minor repairs when required.
·To ensure that a consistently high level of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained throughout the facilities at all times.
·To ensure that lost property is handled and recorded in line with procedures.
·To patrol all areas of the facility and ensure that all areas are being used in the correct manner, making suitable adjustments as necessary.
·To assist in the opening and closing of the facilities when required and assist in monitoring the security of the premises at all times.
·Assist with the supervision and control of children's activities
·Attend regular Lifeguard training sessions to ensure ongoing personal development and compliance of the requirements of the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
·Perform inspection of pool safety equipment including rescue aids and alarms in accordance with the operating procedures.
·To comply with the Pool's Health and Safety procedures at all times.
·To ensure that all Pool equipment is stored safely and securely when not in use.
·To report any maintenance issues using the appropriate procedures.
·To undertake any suggested training requirements.
·Trust to maintain the ability to carry out the duties of the role effectively.
·To attend staff meetings and training as required. For example, Safeguarding and Health and Safety meetings.
·Own personal management and development
·to be responsible for ensuring personal health and safety by following safe systems of work, and by meeting the requirements of the school's Health and Safety Policy.
·to read and respond to communications and information which is disseminated by the School.
·To conduct yourself in such a manner so as not to bring embarrassment` to the School
